It didn't matter to me why someone picked up the book, but I hoped that someone would come away from the book with a different idea about who is in prison and why, and what life in prison is really like because my own experience had diverged so dramatically from what we expect. What impact did you hope your book would have? The book was published in 2010 and I was just so grateful to find readers. It took several years I had never written anything for publication before. I really started working on it in earnest in 20. ![]() I don't think that I was consciously seeking a sort of a cathartic experience, but of course that was one of the results of having done the work.
